Shirley Greyeyes Re-Appointed as 2025 Board Chair John Lagimodiere Remains Vice Chair
At the January 23rd public meeting of the Saskatoon Board of Police Commissioners, the Board re-appointed Commissioner Shirley Greyeyes to serve as Board Chair and Commissioner John Lagimodiere to serve in the Vice-Chair role for 2025. The Board consists of the mayor, two City Councillors, and four members of the community at large.

Commissioner Greyeyes was appointed to the Board in January 2021. This is her second year serving in the Chair position. A First Nations woman from Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, Chair/Commissioner Greyeyes brings a vast knowledge of the Indigenous community to the Board. Currently a Director at the Dakota Dunes Community Development Corporation, over the years her employment has given her the opportunity to work with the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) on many levels. She volunteered with the SPS for over 15 years and was a graduate of the first SPS Community Police Academy. Commissioner Greyeyes is passionate about creating a better understanding between the police and the Indigenous community and bringing forward issues from the Indigenous community to ensure they are incorporated into the overall oversight of the SPS. As Chair, she continues this advocacy work.
Commissioner Lagimodiere was appointed to the Board in 2024. He is a Métis Nation- Saskatchewan citizen born and raised in Saskatoon and is owner of ACS Aboriginal Consulting Services which facilitates Indigenous awareness seminars and develops strategy. He was also Publisher/Editor of Eagle Feather News for 25 years. Commissioner Lagimodiere has volunteered as a sports coach and served on numerous boards including the Saskatoon- Leadership Committee on ending homelessness, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Indigenous Affairs Policy Committee, and the Batoche Historic Site Shared Management Board to name a few. He has delivered Indigenous awareness seminars to the SPS, facilitated planning with the Elders Advisory Committee, and participated in both the SPS Peacekeepers Program and Community Police Academy.
