Board Chair and Vice Chair Position Appointments

At the August 20th public meeting of the Saskatoon Board of Police Commissioners, the Board elected Commissioner John Lagimodiere to serve as Board Chair. Commissioner Jenelyn Santos Ong will fill the Vice Chair position.
The current Saskatoon Board of Police Commissioners includes:
Chair Commissioner John Lagimodiere (appointed to the end of 2027)
Vice Chair Commissioner Jenelyn Santos Ong (appointed to the end of 2027)
Commissioner Katharine Grier (appointed to the end of 2026)
Commissioner/Mayor Cynthia Block (appointed to the end of 2028)
Commissioner/Councillor Zach Jeffries (appointed to the end of 2026)
Commissioner/Councillor Senos Timon (appointed to the end of 2026)
Commissioner John Lagimodiere is a Métis Nation-Saskatchewan citizen born and raised in Saskatoon and is owner of ACS Aboriginal Consulting Services which facilitates Indigenous awareness seminars and develops strategy. He was also Publisher/Editor of Eagle Feather News for 25 years. Commissioner Lagimodiere has volunteered as a sports coach and served on numerous boards including the Saskatoon-Leadership Committee on ending homelessness, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Indigenous Affairs Policy Committee, and the Batoche Historic Site Shared Management Board to name a few. He has delivered Indigenous awareness seminars to the SPS, facilitated planning with the Elders Advisory Committee, and participated in both the SPS Peacekeepers Program and Community Police Academy.
Born in the Philippines and raised on the Prairies, Jenelyn is thankful to call Saskatoon home. She is a community builder, avid volunteer and strong advocate for collaboration and inclusion. Jenelyn leads the team at Opus, the University of Saskatchewan’s startup incubator, helping transform research into real-world impact. Before joining USask, she was the Director of Entrepreneurship at the Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority (SREDA) and led communications at Bioriginal Food & Science Corp. With experience in marketing, communications, economic development, and entrepreneurship, she is passionate about fostering innovation and empowering people to make a positive impact. She also serves the community through various boards and committees, most recently with the Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan (MCOS) and the Filipino-Canadian Association of Saskatchewan (FILCAS) Inc. A proud immigrant and longtime Saskatoon resident, Jenelyn is honoured to be the first Filipino appointed to the Saskatoon Board of Police Commissioners in 2024. She is dedicated to strengthening community connections, promoting youth civic engagement, and enhancing public safety.
