Saskatoon Board of Police Commissioners Provides COVID-19 Update
As COVID-19 impacts the daily life of Saskatoon residents, the Saskatoon Board of Police Commissioners is ensuring the community continues to be served by the Saskatoon Police Service with community safety top of mind during this pandemic.
“The Board is in regular contact with the Saskatoon Police Service to ensure we understand the potential impacts of COVID-19 on public safety, and the delivery of professional policing services,” said Darlene Brander, Chair of the Saskatoon Board of Police Commissioners.
“The Service is managing its operations and related human resource requirements effectively and efficiently,” said Brander. “In addition to conducting on-going planning in its own tactical operations centre, the Service is actively engaged in the City of Saskatoon Emergency Measures Organization, and is collaborating with various other organizations such as Saskatoon Fire and Protective Services, and Medavie Health Services to ensure resources are being utilized in the most efficient ways possible.”
The Board has been provided information by the Service that members are following the prevention measures being communicated by the Saskatchewan Health Authority and the Province of Saskatchewan, such as following hand washing instructions, safe distancing, and voluntarily self-isolating should a member have recently returned from travel outside of Canada or is feeling ill.
The Board wishes to thank all members of the Service, including its civilian staff, for the very important work they are doing to ensure a safe and secure environment for the citizens of Saskatoon.
“While understanding the potential impacts of COVID-19 on public safety is crucial for the Board, so is the health and safety of our officers and civilian staff,” said Brander. “The Board sincerely thanks them for their dedication and commitment to our community and wishes everyone good health during this very stressful time.”
