Saskatoon Board of Police Commissioners Elects New Vice Chair

Following the resignation of Board Commissioner and Vice-Chair Brent Penner, at the June 20, 2024 public meeting of the Saskatoon Board of Police Commissioners, the Board elected Commissioner John Lagimodiere to serve as Board Vice-Chair beginning July 1, 2024 for the remainder of the year. Commissioner Lagimodiere was appointed to the Board in January 2024.

Board Vice Chair John Lagimodiere is a Métis Nation-Saskatchewan citizen born and raised in Saskatoon and is owner of ACS Aboriginal Consulting Services which facilitates Indigenous awareness seminars and develops strategy. He was also Publisher/Editor of Eagle Feather News for 25 years. Commissioner Lagimodiere has volunteered as a sports coach and served on numerous boards including the Saskatoon-Leadership Committee on ending homelessness, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Indigenous Affairs Policy Committee, and the Batoche Historic Site Shared Management Board to name a few. He has delivered Indigenous awareness seminars to the SPS, facilitated planning with the Elders Advisory Committee, and participated in both the SPS Peacekeepers Program and Community Police Academy.
